Tar and chip

Tar and Chip Surfacing

Tar and chip surfacing is a more affordable option for larger areas, driveways, private roads, farms and open outdoor spaces where a textured, hard wearing surface matters more than a glass smooth finish.

How it works

Our process

  • Site preparation

The area is cleared and levelled, ready for surfacing.

  • Tar application

A layer of hot tar is applied evenly across the surface.

  • Chip spreading

Stone chip is spread over the tar while it's still workable.

  • Rolling

The surface is rolled to bed the chip securely into the tar.

  • Sweep and finish

Loose chip is swept off and the surface is checked before we leave.
